August 2007 -

In August we added a new road rail vactor to our fleet. Put straight into service for Network Rail on a possession at Grantham, it has been built to our exacting requirements at our works under the guidance of our Design and Build Engineer Peter Shenton - who is also our Operations manager.
The vactor unit is built on a 4x4 Daf Chassis with a 3,200 cfm air mover capable of sucking ballast with great ease. It incorporates a high pressure Pratissoli pump operating at 1,500 lbs per square inch and capable of dispensing 40 gallons a minute. This power enables the vast majority of all railway drainage tasks to be dealt with easily.

The specialist unit carries in excess of 850 gallons of water for jetting purposes and its detritus tanks can hold up to 4 tons of ballast. The vactor unit has been proved to possess an excellent ability to clear cable ducting and remove wet beds. Our staff are trained in high pressure water jetting and confined space entry, giving them the skills to deal with most of the scenarios they encounter in the course of getting the job done.
